It’s Time To Sink Titanic… Again.
For the past ten years one film has been unbeatable as the highest grossing film of all time. James Cameron’s Titanic.
It holds a lifetime domestic box office gross of $600,788,188, an international box office gross of $1,842,879,955. Even the original Star Wars and its countless re-releases could only muster a lifetime domestic total of $460,998,007. For the past decade, no film has even had a remote chance in nearing Titanic‘s total.
Until now.
On July 18th, 2008, The Dark Knight blew away just about every box office record in existence. Except one. And with your help, movie fans, we can finally knock Titanic off its icy perch.
And that’s why we have created this site. SinkTitanic.com is the home base for a grass roots movement that can change the fate of movie history forever. This town deserves a better class of record holder, and we’re gonna give it to them.
We understand why Titanic was successful. It was the epic vision of James Cameron.
A lesser filmmaker may have been content presenting one of the world’s most tragic oceanic disasters which resulted in the death of One Thousand, Five Hundred and Seventeen people as just that, a disaster. Perhaps made the ship’s creator the protagonist. But Cameron realized that simply wasn’t enough DRAMA. What’s the big deal about these real people – these families, parents, teachers and children that drowned on a stupid boat? Cameron realized there was no story there. He needed a bigger iceberg to hit.
Enter Jack and Rose.
With the introduction of these two characters – James Cameron forever immortalized one of history’s saddest disasters as a love affair between the ugly step-kid from Growing Pains, and some chubby english broad. We watched as Jack nervously sketched Rose naked, then made love to her in a vintage automobile, hot hands pressed against the steamy window glass. Because of all their sexual tension, we suddenly felt for these characters. That way when the big boat finally hit the iceberg drowning our two sex-crazed love birds, the audience would truly be on the edge of their seats!
But even the iceberg wasn’t enough drama for Cameron – He realized he needed to bring more to the table. Raise the stakes. What if Billy Zane chased Jack around with a gun?!! That’s WAY MORE exciting than the impending doom of boring frozen water.
Come on people! “The Poseidon Adventure” is ten times the film! Hands down the best disaster film ever, but that’s a debate for another time, right now there’s a bigger fish to fry…
Our mission is to SINK TITANIC and we need your help. We do NOT work for Warner Brothers. We just believe its time to end the reign of Titanic and give it to a more deserving figure: The Dark Knight.
While some might say The Dark Knight is a smidge overrated – NONE would deny it as a truly great film. Director Christopher Nolan has crafted a realistic world of Batman that’s comedic, dramatic, exciting and well worth the title of highest grossing domestic gross.
The trades are all expecting The Dark Knight to taper off at $520 million – which is not enough. That’s why we need your help to go see it AGAIN and AGAIN and to spread the word!
We need people all around the world to join our Sink Titanic Street Team:
We’ll be updating this site like crazy, run contests, post videos and do everything we can to SINK TITANIC! So check back often, spread the word and start collecting ticket stubs!!
Thank you for your support.
